As part of a nationwide crackdown on illegal weapons, 11 peoplehave been indicted here on charges of unlawful possession ofsilencers, machineguns and short-barrel rifles.
"Silencers and machineguns can have no lawful purpose in privatehands," said U.S. Attorney Anton R. Valukas in announcing theindictments.
The indictments returned earlier this week by a federal grandjury stem from an investigation into the sale of gun-part kits bycompanies around the nation that advertise in gun and sportingmagazines.
